Three venues, one day, one satellite programme: We cordially invite you to the Academies’ Day "Musik und Gesellschaft" (Music and Society), which will take place for the first time in Leipzig, on 6 October 2022.

The programme includes panels made up of high-ranking participants and prominent experts in their field, lots of music, encounters with research projects from the academies and an extensive satellite programme. The question of what role music plays worldwide – as a bearer of hope, as an instrument of propaganda and manipulation, but also as a source of identity, as a mediator between cultures – will be the guiding theme throughout this day.

The Academies' Day is the big joint event of the eight academies of sciences united in the Akademienunion. At their joint science day, the academies present their research work and invite the interested public to engage in dialogue. It takes place alternately at the various academy locations, every two years in Berlin, in 2022 for the first time in Leipzig.
