International Relations
The global network of science academies (IAP)

IAP is a global network of science academies. Its primary goals include promoting cooperation between its member academies and issueing statements on global challenges confronting mankind. Since December 2006 the Union of the German Academies of Scienes and Humanities has been representing Germany in the Executive Committee of the IAP. Under the Union’s leadership, a scientific project on green genetic engineering, chaired by Professor Heldt, was initiated in 2004. The working group “Prospects of genetically modified crops for the world’s food supply” has already presented a memorandum and two statements.
