| Working Group on Electronic
Publishing | |
| The “Electronic Publishing” working group was established by the Union of the
German Academies of Sciences and Humanities to advise the Executive Committee
on all matters of electronic and digital publishing that are relevant to projects
in the Academies' Programme and to suggest common standards.
Additional concerns include copyright issues, conflicts with the publishing industry,
software monopolies, the threat of data loss posed by obsolete and
inaccessible storage media, the challenge of identifying search engines suitable
for searching vast amounts of text, the development of additional data storage
facilities to safeguard future accessibility, and the creation of new technologies
for electronic publishing.
Once every year, the Working Group on Electronic Publishing organises a
three-day-workshop to inform the staff in the scientific projects about the latest
developments in the field of electronic publishing.
