		Organs and Committees acatech – Council for Technical Sciences The Council for Technical Sciences was founded by the Union in 2002. Its founding members are the academies of sciences and humanities that are members of the Union . In the meantime, 240 engineering science professionals and representatives of neighbouring subjects in the natural sciences have joined the Council, who is committed to encouraging futureoriented initiatives and to emphasizing the significance of technology for society and the economy. The Council also regards itself as a link between basic research in technical science and applied research. The Council for Technical Sciences is a registered non-profit association with an office in Munich and a liaison office in Berlin . Those responsible for allocating the funds from both federal and state sources have decided to officially include acatech as “ German Academy of Engineering” into their combined financial support programme from 2008.
