In order to bring the expertise gathered in the German academies of sciences and humanities into the public eye for the first time, thus making it more easily accessible, a list of academy fellows assorted by subject areas is offered below. It is intended for the convenience of investigating journalists and persons working for members of parliament, ministries and other institutions who need to get in touch with scientific experts. In publishing our list of experts we hope to meet the demands of all those who have been asking us to make the treasure of expertise which has layn hidden inside the German academies of sciences and humanities more readily available to society. The list of subject areas corresponds to an extended version of the German Research Council’s (DFG) list of review boards (Fachkollegien). It begins with humanities and cultural studies subjects, moves on to the social sciences, economics and law, and finally leads up to the natural sciences, medicine, mathematics, informatics and technical sciences. Within each subject experts are listed by surname in alphabetical order. The list also specifies for each expert which academy or academies he or she is a fellow of. Furthermore, the list is searchable by subject area, enabling users to find suitable contact persons quickly and efficiently.
