The UAI is a global federation of many academies of sciences from more than 60 countries with a social sciences and humanities focus.
The main priority of the UAI is to foster and support the humanities and social sciences, which are taking on an increasingly important role and importance in an ever-changing world.
The UAI initiates, evaluates and increases the visibility of long-term basic research projects in the humanities and social sciences. At present, the UAI coordinates 76 projects, eight of which are carried out by member academies of the German Union within the framework of the common German Academies‘ Programme.
The UAI is financed by membership fees, as well as by private and public funds.
